push-ups chest to floor-down to 2’s and singles from set #2 onwards
thanks for the great coaching today, Auty-love that push and encouragement at the end!
Great job Sandra and Y-vo!
as a side note…I’m ready to start that push-up challenge-Chad, Auty…can we start this? I say starting with 3’s-30 day challenge…otherwise, 100 day challenge as with the burpees, but starting with 1’s if we do over a longer stretch-anyone else in?
3,2,1…go!
There was a really cool video I remember seeing on the .com re. proper push-up form, and the ‘cheats’ to avoid-might be good to post that so we all know what’s considered acceptable and unacceptable in the xfit world

30:00 DNF (completed 8 rounds + dl + 6 pushups)
A very sweaty workout! Deadlifts felt good today, tried to concentrate on form. Pushups definitely a challenge, very fatiguing… so count me in for the challenge.
Nice to see you today Auty!

Used 25 lbs DB for deadlift and did 95% of push ups on my knees. Did try a couple of push ups on toes every set, usually 2 or 3.
It feels good to work out after a week off. Back feels great but just recovering from a cold.
I am interested in how the challenge works. The only other challenge I was a bit aware of was the double under challenge in January but I didn’t start until near the end of January, so I am not sure if there is a procedure.
Just as a suggestion from what I saw in Saskatoon at crossfit is that they do a longer challenge (I think a month long one) and shorter challenge (week long). When I was there the week long one was 3-long jumps in a row for distance. They marked the ground with chalk for where you landed and kept it there all week so you could try each day that you were there to beat your further distance or try to beat someone else’s. It was really fun and the quick easy challenge kept everyone quite excited and motivated. It might be cool to brainstorm some short challenges and see if we can work them into our timing. When the group was coming up with the next weeks challenge the coach was suggesting things that can be done and not take too much energy away from the WOD.

Count me in for the pushup challenge too!
Jennifer, the weekly quick challenges sound great too.
Going to do today’s WOD at Servus later today. I heard it was fun.

hmmmm…. I’m not so sure I used the word “fun”
good luck Greg!

I hadn’t done this one before, but I wanted to finish. Push-ups seem goat like for me, so I always try to make sure I get full range of motion with chest to the floor.
Put me in for the push up challenge and the long jump challenge. Everyone could use a laugh.

Used 50lb db’s.
Thanks for the encouragement Chris, Leanne, and Auty at the end.
I can’t seem to break 26 minutes for a WOD.
Too much rest!!

A bit slower than last time. Not sure if that’s the “cheesecake effect” or because form may not have been as good back then – not sure if we were doing chest to the floor every rep. or not.
Had a few where I did not feel chest touch floor during the rep. so re-did them. F-bomb when that happened! 🙂
I think some shorter challenges might be fun too.

I think it was either 18:45 or 19:45
used 50 lbs db for deadlift
also used the db to hold onto for pushups. Deep… ouch.
Thanks for all those who volunteered to be my homework! I really appreciate it!

PU’s were harder in the beginning of wod……weird maybe not warm enough!
DL were the HARDEST.
I like the idea of a push up challange and the shorter challanges too!
I also really like the idea of the video on correct form and cheats to avoid…
good for you Sandra for redoing those push ups!

Yah, that video is great. Just watched it again. Did not even realize that I was pushing with my chin when fatigued.
Up for Pu challenge!
Vertical or box jump challenge would be fun too–at your own risk of course!

“push up standards video”
Is this the one Karen?
Apr 04, 2009 @ 17:31:26
Bruce-good job finishing, and with full rom on those pushups-awesome!
Suze-yes, that’s the video with Annie that I had seen before for push up standards

I believe it was 12:49….if Krista would post then I would know as she beat me by a little bit
Also was using 70lb kettle bell as there was no barbells left and using dumb bells was just to hard on my shoulders
Apr 04, 2009 @ 18:01:32
5 rounds for time of:
4 HSPU – w/ 2 ab mats + a 2.5lb weight
8 C2B Pull ups – tried chest to bar, can do this but as I fatigured I wasn’t hitting C2B
12 Deadlifts 185, 135 – Rx’d
16 Box Jumps – Rx’d
15:28
Very humbling WOD. Definitely can ditch the 2.5lb weight on HSPU’s. DL’s by far the hardest. It’s 7 pm now and I am still hurting. Great energy in this class! Thanks for the push at the end Auty, I definitely needed it!
Apr 04, 2009 @ 22:02:48
Tried WOD at Servus. Barbells and weights locked up… didn’t feel like checking them out… used dumbbells 65lbers.
Did 3 rounds. Deadlifts did not feel right at all with dumbbells… much harder… either feet were being crushed on the touchdown or tennis elbow acted up on the stand up.
Finished all pushups, then did some burpees and pullups to make up for bailed out DLs. Time 25:22.
