Was at 91 pushups at 30 minutes – finished last 9 then called it a day.
Alternated sets of 10 pullups – kipping then black band. Last time did all kipping & finished in 34 something, but was doing underhanded kipping & not getting full extension at bottom then.
Not a good day today. Felt mentally defeated by the pullups before I began & performance showed it.
Put half & half in my decaf. Things looking up.

27:10
4:11 better than last time.

Great job Bill
I think this was my first Angie
100 pull ups – started on black band on foot for first 20-30 (can’t remember), went to purple band on foot until I got to 60, then green on knee to 100.
100 push ups – for some reason they felt good today, did first 30 on toes and probably should have done more but wanted to finish, rest on knees.
100 sit ups – thanks Ang for not letting me go out of order, I almost did squats and would have missed my favorite.
That was 30 mins worth
Did 50 squats in the last 2 minutes, going until 32:00
Felt guilty about not finishing so did 50 more squats before getting ready for work, now I better hurry or I will be late.
Can’t wait for rest day tomorrow! Sun, mon, tues has been a tough week.
Great job Team 6!
Apr 28, 2009 @ 07:50:57
was at 87 situps when time called. Finished at 34:00
Apr 28, 2009 @ 08:20:47
29:20
The sit ups took FOREVER!!! I was 4 min. faster this time so that’s a bonus.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 08:32:07
I felt thoroughly defeated by Angie today. Doing this WOD twice in under a week is a very very very bad idea.
Rx’d
Time: 36:44
Pull ups were a struggle and took over 12min but it was push ups that really killed me. I tried hard for full depth but they really took it out of me. I was at about 20 or 30 sit ups when the 30min mark hit but I really hate not finishing a WOD so I finished up the sit ups and threw in the squats. When I did this WOD on Thurs my time was Rx’d: 28:29. I think knowing that I was 7min faster only six days ago made it even more discouraging.
On a different note… I have to complement Galina and Sandra on their push ups. I had plenty of time to watch them do theirs as I sat dying between my single attempts at push ups but watching you ladies do them with such good form and determination even once exhaustion set in encouraged me to keep going.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 08:47:01
21:36 * OH Happy Day! (last time 25:51) beat it by 4:14.
kipping – 10:35
push up – 4 min (80 rep)
situp – slower today did in 25’s (last time 70/30)
squats- just did them.
WORK ON: – consecutive kippings (never learned that move yet)
– aim for sub 20 next time.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 08:53:30
I have to say I felt defeated as well. I am extremely frustrated with pullups. My hands are killing me and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
31:44 and used white band for pullups in an attempt to save my hands.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 09:26:31
26:35
Purple band w/knee
First 30 push ups from toes..rest knees
Ugh!!
Apr 28, 2009 @ 10:11:39
DNF today(last time was 32:42)
Just not back to the ability I was doing things before this stupid knee injury! It is hard to get back lost strength after missing almost 2 month.Last time did 20 consecutive kipps, today barely manage 10.So it took longer to finish pull ups, but I was happy to manage chin over bar.
Push ups not only took FOREVER, but destroyed me today.( Angela, you are to kind, I struggled with most of the reps today).I was finishing 73 when time was called and just give up.I was expecting not to finish 100 squats today( knee would not be happy), but I did not even get to them.
Good job Natasha & Bill!

29:19
1:15 slower than last time. Felt faster on pullups. not sure where I lost it.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 10:40:28
Way to go Natasha!! I needed you at 10:00 to motivate me.
This is definately not my favorite WOD with 2 of my Goat list to start it off
Took 15 mins to do Pull-ups with black band
33:45 – 15 squats in at 30 mins
Apr 28, 2009 @ 10:51:15
26:43 – PR
Rx’d – Chad would you agree?? I know you caught me on a couple of push ups??
Pull ups (done in about 9 mins., last time they took about 11 mins.) Angie was looking good at this point . . . then the push ups kicked my a**!!
Push ups – about 10 mins. WTF!! (2 & 3 at a time)
Sit ups / Squats – felt okay but not great
Seem to be struggling lately. Everything seems hard, even sit ups?? Had a good discussion w/ Chad after class. I feel like I’m going backwards. Maybe I need to take some time off, a couple days? a week? I seriously lost sleep last night thinking about Angie. Any one else do this? A ‘rest’ day could even be just coming in and doing the WOD not aiming for a PR. Just get out of my own head and see what happens. Seriously frustrated right now!!
Apr 28, 2009 @ 12:48:49
21:43 (PR) 1 min faster than last time. 3-5 Pull ups not quite over the bar, push ups have to remember chest to the ground not stomach. Was hopping for under 20, next time have to rest less on sit ups and squats
Apr 28, 2009 @ 13:24:29
Lisa, I’m right where you are. As soon as I saw it was Angie last night, I just felt defeated. Came in today feeling that I wouldn’t be able to do any pullups and guess what? Tried a couple after and they felt fine. I didn’t even have it in me to finish the WOD which normally I HATE. I think I’m just really frustrated with some things as well and although I don’t wish those feelings on anyone, it is reassuring to see that others have the same issues.
And thanks, Angela, pushups felt really hard today (all mental). I was envying your pullups the entire time!
Apr 28, 2009 @ 15:55:00
Hey Lisa,
I’ve had the same trouble over the past while with some of my lifts. Not only have I not pr’d in months but I have gone down in weight on some lifts. Listen, part of what we do is train the mind as well as the body. If this was a mentally “easy” sport i’m sure more people would stick with it, but it’s not. Training through these times is important. I’m not saying that we do not need to look out for overtraining, but we do need to assess that carefully.
One of the things that has helped me wrap my mind around this is something that Kelly said when he was down. Next time you have something like this come up (Angie, Barbra, whatever) approach it from a different angle. Try all wide grip pull-ups or try chin-ups, try alternating your hand position during push-ups or try including a different kind of sit-up. Then track all of it as seperate WOD’s (wide grip cindy or ghd angie). Taking this approach allows us to starting hitting new pr’s on different planes. The next couple of months I have planned to try a number of seperate types of squats (wide stance back squat, box squat, overhead squat and so on…). Each attempt will use a unique rep scheme and be tracked seperately from one another. This can be used for any WOD and any lift.
The intent here is to keep on training, expose yourself to new ways of doing things and maintain some sanity during the hard parts. Your a fierce athlete Lisa and an outstading person, but don’t forget we’re just working out. 🙂

First Angie
31:00ish and made it to 50 sit ups.
Many of my pull ups were sketchy. Push ups were killer but I really tried to focus on depth with chest to floor.

Won’t focus on the bad, only the good.
Started off with 5 legitimate chin over the bar, no cheating pullups!
Alternated 5 Rx’d/5 White band pullups
At 71, hands so badly torn that I couldn’t hold the bar anymore.
Compensated by doing 71 pushups and 33 situps by 30 minutes.
Photos of hands on Facebook for those who want to be grossed out.

Rx’d offsite, hope to be back in class next week.

1st time for this workout, loved it.

Nice job on the PR jobo. I knew you were good for more than looking at.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 19:05:25
30:00 DNF
completed 89 kipping pullups with black band at time (at 60 pullups at 15 min) Hands blistering – hard to work through pain on the bar.
GOAT WOD! Except for sit ups which I love… but didn’t make it there, again. Not sure why I decided to torture myself with this WOD today, especially in the evening (a WOD with lots of pullups causes anxiety for me too)… really just wanted to work on my pullups (I guess in a way I accomplished that so one positive note today) Also horribly frustrated with pullups – my goal for this WOD sometime in the future is to actually make it to the pushups with out regressing in bands. Although I may have regressed today as last time I did 50 without band but height not high enough. Alternated with each leg by 10’s in band today – found I can not do pullups without facing the wall so oddly enough left leg was stronger today. Sorry for the complaining in class Chad. And thanks Bruce for the encouragement – I need all the help I can get when it comes to pullups.
Apr 28, 2009 @ 19:07:45
Natasha, Bill, Jobo, Vadym & Lisa – Congrats on your PR’s! You are inspiring!
Apr 28, 2009 @ 19:17:48
Another late day at work…so off to Globo Gym I went…
No pullup bars?? Imagine a gym without them…scary
So I revised the WOD to include the same total reps of the other exercises and subbed 35lb KBS for pullups.
4 Rounds
25 KBS, 25 Pushups, 25 Sit Ups, 25 Squats
Found it soooooooo much easier mentally to get through 100 pushups this way. Maybe I will name this wod “Swinging Angie” and do it 100 of each next time

Thanks Guys – I loved this WOD today!
Now after I get home from work and read about many of your frustrations I’m feeling kinda sad.
I can for sure understand that feeling…I’ve left the gym in tears before. It’s tough when you get to feeling like “will I ever get there” “will I ever do this” and the “Oh God I’m going backwards” I have had those feeling a lot especially when it comes to any kinda weights and weights overhead! What I try to do is a couple of things….try to leave the gym with at least some success…It helps to chat with a coach, a friend….I’ve even gone as far as staying later (after a mental break down grinder) to do a mini wod from earlier in the week to feel some success…. Sometimes I take a look at my week/weeks how much i’ve been working, sleep i’ve been getting , foods i’ve been eating….with a few sick kids, lack of sleep and a busy work schedule ….all that without proper sleep and fuel I can sure notice my workout slipping into “My substandard”….
AND I will agree…as much as we all LOVE CrossFit and what we do here…and as hard as it is to stay away. a few days break.. a week break…really does help!!! ( how often a break is needed I don’t know) BUT….. I find when I have to be away or I just don’t have child care and i get back in 4 to 5 days it sure surprises me how well I really do at my workouts….not sure if its a mental thing… physical or a bit of both?
Well anyway – BRAVO to us all for what we do each and everyday here at CrossFit!
